Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania - Sophomore Sunflower Greene was named PSAC Outdoor Championships Field MVP, and the Marauders placed seventh after three days of competition.
Greene is the second Marauder in as many years to be named a MVP of the outdoor championships. Erin Madison was the track and overall MVP in 2016. Greene was voted to the honor after winning the shot put and hammer throw on Friday.
On Saturday, the Marauders received an All-PSAC performance from Amanda Myers in the javelin throw. Myers finished third--her best outdoor championships finish--and became a three-time point scorer. Myers hit 138-1, which was eight feet clear of the fourth-place finisher.
The Marauders also received points from Courtney Ingold, who turned in a career afternoon. Ingold's 12.52 in the 100-meter dash finals netted her a fourth-place finish. She followed that performance by taking sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.53. Ingold was also a member of the sixth-place finishing 4x100-meter relay team, which ran a season-best time of 47.94. The team also included Brianna Doherty, Clara Forney and Emonie Reviere.
The Marauders finished with 50 1/2 points. Shippensburg won the team title with 172 and Slippery Rock finished second with 115.
Several Millersville athletes will now turn their attention to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Amanda Myers ranks fifth in the javelin and is in position for her third consecutive trip to the national championships. Sunflower Greene ranks 10th in the hammer and 11th in the shot put. Brianna Doherty also posted a provisional qualifying mark in the long jump, ranking 50th nationally.
