Kissimmee, Florida -- Junior Connor Sheehan finished tied for 66th after shooting a 75 during the final round of the NCAA Men's Division II Golf Championships Wednesday.
Sheehan shot a 6-over-par in each of the first two rounds before improving with a 5-over-par on the final day. The junior's consistency served him well, and he moved 19 spots up the leaderboard as other members of the pack faltered on the back nine. Sheehan averaged a 75.66 during the tournament while the total average was only 74.56.
This was Sheehan's first opportunity to represent Millersville on the national stage. Sheehan previously had postseason experience in the Super Regional during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 season. Sheehan qualified for the national championship after finishing third at the Super Regional.
The course was a difficult undertaking for almost every participant as only one golfer finished under par while one more finished even. The course location proved to be an advantage for the regional participants as all five members of the top-5 were schools in Florida.
Sheehan will look to return to the national championship next year in his final season at Millersville.
