Millersville, Pennsylvania - The Millersville women's basketball team trailed for all but six seconds as West Chester topped the Marauders 74-68 at Pucillo Court Wednesday. The Golden Rams had just six players dressed but got a huge performance from freshman Rylee Power who scored 25 in the victory.
Aunjel Van Brakle nearly had a double-double in her last game at Pucillo Court scoring 18 points and pulling in 9 rebounds. Fellow senior
Courtney Hinnant had five rebounds to go with two points while
Alayah Hall scored 18 and grabbed 18 rebounds.
The Marauders continued their struggles from beyond the arc, going just 4-for-30 from 3-point range and attempted seven less free throws than their counterpart. Millersville forced 28 turnovers but could only convert the mistakes into 15 points as West Chester shot 58 percent from the floor.
The Marauders looked primed to take control of the game when
Jade Farquhar drove to the bucket and tied the game at 52 before hitting a free throw and giving Millersville a lead with 7:39 to play. The Golden Rams would respond with back-to-back buckets but Farquhar once again scored in traffic to cut the deficit to two.
After West Chester extended its lead to six, Van Brakle hit a three to pull the Marauders to within three. With the score 73-66, Millersville forced a turnover but missed a 3-pointer and the Golden Rams ran the clock out to win their 10th game of the season.
Millersville has just one regular season game remaining in the push for the PSAC playoffs. Millersville travels to Cheyney to face the Wolves Saturday at 1 p.m.
