WEEKEND OVERVIEW
• The Millersville women's soccer team returns to the pitch after a six day layoff hosting Slippery Rock Friday followed by Edinboro Saturday. Both games are slated for 1 p.m., and Saturday is the Marauders' Family Day at Pucillo Field.
• Millersville opened 2016 with an impressive short-handed win over Kutztown, 1-0. Two days later, the Marauders traveled to Bloomsburg where they fell behind 2-0 but made it interesting when Samantha Ricciardi scored in the 86th minute, but the Huskies would hold on for the win.

ABOUT SLIPPERY ROCK
• Struggling to score, the Rock dropped their first two games of 2016 mustering just one goal in two losses. Slippery Rock opened up the season with a 3-1 loss against Notre Dame College. In their second contest, the Rock conceded a goal in the second minute and failed to equalize against No. 22 ranked W.Va. Wesleyan.
• The Rock still have high expectations for the season, slated to finish third in the PSAC Preseason Coaches poll in which they received two first place votes. Slippery Rock returns its top three goal scorers from 2015, but only sophomore Brooke Testa has found the back of the net thus far.
• Slippery Rock has used two different goalkeepers this season, with Charlotte Elrod getting the start against Notre Dame and fellow sophomore Kylie Downs getting the nod against West Virginia Wesleyan.

THE LAST MEETING: MILLERSVILLE 1, SLIPPERY ROCK 0  (September 11, 2015)
• Despite being outshot 17-4, the Marauders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute and packed in the defense to hold on to a victory. Kristin Lepley broke through the defense and beat Elrod to put Millersville on top. Samantha Wolfe registered seven saves to help life the Marauders to the road win.

ABOUT EDINBORO
• .The Fighting Scots began 2016 with two home wins, earning them recognition by the NSCAA who ranked Edinboro 15th in the nation.  Edinboro first topped Clarion 2-1 before the offense exploded, scoring four goals to blank Davis and Elkins.
• The Fighting Scots hit the road for the first time all year, facing Shippensburg Friday before traveling to Millersville Saturday.
• Edinboro is averaging 21.5 shots per game and only allowing an average of three. The Fighting Scots return three of their top four scorers from 2015, including Alex Brown who has netted two goals already this season. Edinboro has seen an emergence from junior Coleen Brodman who has also scored twice in 2016.
• Coming off a 13-win season, Sarah Baskey has allowed just one goal on 15 shots playing every minute of the first two games for Edinboro.

THE LAST MEETING: MILLERSVILLE 1, EDINBORO 0  (September 12, 2015)
• Like last year's matchup with Slippery Rock, Millersville was outshot by a large margin (18-5) yet scored first and held on for a defensive win. In the 62nd minute, Halie Parker found herself with the ball on the left edge of the box and fired it upper 90 for what would be the game-winning goal.

FAMILY DAY
• Saturday's matchup with Edinboro marks the 2016 edition of Family Day for the Millersville women's soccer team. The squad encourages all family and friends of the Millersville women's soccer team to come out and support the team.
