BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team battled through a tough 90 minutes before falling to the Bloomsburg Huskies, 2-1.
The first 20 minutes of the match were quiet, with both teams focusing on ball control. Senior Isabel Coy recorded the first shot on goal for the Marauders, but it was saved by the Huskies' goalkeeper and resulted in a corner kick. The ensuing corner found Coy's feet again, but her follow-up attempt missed high and to the right.
Bloomsburg responded eight minutes later, earning a corner kick and placing a shot on senior goalkeeper Sabrina Zimmerman. The Huskies added another attempt 10 minutes later, which Zimmerman also saved. The match remained scoreless heading into halftime.
The Huskies controlled the pace early in the second half, generating multiple scoring chances. Millersville had an opportunity to respond in the 62nd minute, but Strohecker's shot missed left.
Bloomsburg later created a breakaway opportunity that could have given them the lead, but Zimmerman came up with a crucial save to keep the match even. Fifteen minutes later, Caroline Wood led a Marauder transition that resulted in Aubrey Strohecker scoring the opening goal, with Wood credited for the assist.
Millersville's advantage was short-lived, as Bloomsburg quickly countered with a shot that slipped through Zimmerman's hands to tie the match. The Huskies then capitalized again, scoring the game-winning goal with four minutes remaining to secure the 2–1 victory.
Millersville returns home next Wednesday, concluding a three-game road stretch. The Marauders will face Kutztown in a nighttime matchup scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
