Hower Wins Hammer Throw on Day Two of PSAC Championships

Mansfield, Pa. - Millersville had strong outings on day two of the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships as Vanessa Hower won the hammer throw and Arianna Camel placed second overall in the hepathalon. The Marauders accumulated 34 points and sat in fourth with one day of competition remaining.
Hower kept her dominating spring up as she won the hammer throw for the second consecutive year. Hower earned first place with a toss of 175-6 while freshman Sunflower Greene placed second overall in the hammer throw with a distance of 158-10. Olivia Misner earned two points for the Marauders finishing seventh overall with a mark of 138-8. In the shot put, Greene placed third overall with a toss of 45-2 1/4, giving her two All-PSAC finishes.
Arianna Camel finished second in the heptathalon with 4,397 points. Camel set personal records in the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump, and the 200 and 800-meter dashes and was just shy of a NCAA provisional. Both Camel and Erin Madison qualified for the 100-meter hurdles finals with preliminary times of 14.42 and 14.65 respectively. Madison also qualified for the finals of the 400-meter hurdles after recording a time of 1:03.43 in the preliminary round Friday.
Kiara Allen looks primed to defend her 100-meter dash title as she ran an 11.83 preliminary time which ranks her second going into Saturday. Courtney Ingold set a personal record of 12.30, just missing the finals in the 100-meter dash, but ran a 25.43 200-meter dash which made her eligible for the finals on Saturday. Allen also qualified for the 200-meter dash finals, running the third fastest time of 25.16 in the preliminaries. Shannon Cruz placed 10th overall in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 39:59.39.
The PSAC Championships will conclude Saturday in Mansfield.
