Complete Game Notes (.PDF)GAME OVERVIEW• Home court advantage is everything when the Marauders and Golden Rams meet. The home team has won 29 of the 38 meetings during the
Fred Thompson Era, and Millersville has won seven of the last nine games at home against West Chester. Five of the last six meetings in Pucillo have been decided by fewer than 10 points including a 79-72 loss a year ago.
• Millersville will look to sweep the season series at home with Mansfield on Monday as the Marauders look to earn their second victory of the season at Pucillo Gymnasium. Last time out, the Marauders scored the opening basket and led for the first six minutes on the road at Bloomsburg, but the Huskies topped the Marauders 85-59. The Ville finished 16-of-64 from the field and especially struggled in the second half, failing to make a 3-pointer within the period.
Shawn Williams finished in double figures with 13 points and
Ricky Mosley tallied 10.
Tommy Patterson just missed out on a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds.
• The Marauders started the season 2-1 overall but have since gone 1-19 over their last 20 games. The only win during the stretch was a 61-50 victory over Cheyney at Pucillo Gymnasium on February 3. Millersville ranks 16th in the conference in offense (65.1 points per game) and defense (79.1 points allowed per game). The Marauders have shot a league-worst 35.9% from the field and they rank 17th out of 18 schools in rebounding margin (-5.9).
• Leading scorer
Shawn Williams averages 15.6 points per game, which ranks 10th best in the PSAC. Williams has scored in double figures a team leading 18 times this season and has done so 31 times during his career for the Black & Gold. The Roberts Vaux product has been known as a proficient 3-point shooter through his career and ranks 14th in the PSAC this season shooting at a 36 percent clip.
• A key to victory for Millersville against both opponents will be shooting a higher percentage from the floor. In all three Marauder victories the Ville outshot their opponents, but the Marauders have yet to shoot over 50 percent on the season.
• Millersville has won each of the last three games played in Pucillo Gymnasium and stole a victory at Mansfield's home court last November. The Marauders will have to shut down senior guard Thomas Moore who was a preseason All-PSAC East selection by the conference head coaches. Moore has scored in double-figures in 20 of this 21 games played.
