Millersville, Pa. – The York County YMCA and Graham Aquatic Center is set to host the 2016 PSAC Swimming Championships from Thursday, Feb 18 through Sunday, Feb. 21. The Millersville women's swimming team has high hopes entering the event with PSAC favorite West Chester in the hunt for its 10th straight PSAC title and the Golden Rams 14th overall title in program history.
The Marauders will feature 10 different swimmers that qualified for various events during the 2015-16 regular season. According to head coach Kyle Almoney his squad knows what to expect moving forward into the biggest meet of the season.
"I think this squad knows what to expect and I know that they have high expectations for themselves going the meet," said Almoney. "Witnessing the way that they have trained this year I know that they are setting themselves up for great opportunities come this meet."
Millersville looks to build off its 10th-place overall finish a season ago at the 2015 PSAC Championships. The Marauders captured their second highest point total in program history accumulating 131 points. Under the leadership of Kyle Almoney Millersville have totaled 90 or more points in four-straight years as the Black & Gold look to finish inside the top-10 for the first time since 2004 when team scores were first archived.
"Expectation wise, I want to see each swimmer competing give 100 percent in all their races," said Almoney. "They have earned this opportunity and they should enjoy the moment because it will last them a lifetime and we are looking forward to an exciting meet."
