Women's basketball downed on the road

Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania - Courtney Dimoff had a team-high 12 points but the Millersville women's basketball team was outscored 15-4 in the third quarter as Slippery Rock cruised to a 74-43 victory Saturday. Courtney Hinnant had nine points and 10 rebounds but the Marauders shot just over 24 percent from the field on the day.

Slippery Rock had three players score in double digits including Krista Pietropola who led the Rock with 20 points. Slippery Rock was dialed in from distance, going 6-for-11 from the field and edging out the Marauders 42-37 in rebounds. 

Alayah Hall got things going in the first quarter as she drove to the hoop to put Millersville up 2-0. After Slippery Rock took a 6-3 lead, Dimoff hit a 3-pointer to tie the game but the Rock would outscore the Marauders 14-11 in the first quarter. 

Hall would score the first bucket of the second quarter, nailing a three to tie the score at 14. With the score tied at 16, Slippery Rock went on an 8-0 run looking to take control of the game. Millersville would cut the deficit to 24-21 when Dimoff hit another three point bucket. The Rock regained control towards the end of the quarter and took a 33-25 lead into halftime. 

The Marauders would not get within eight points for the remainder of the game as Slippery Rock dominated the third quarter including a stretch of 14 unanswered points. The Rock began the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run and put the game out of reach.

Millersville now stands 3-6 on the season (1-4 PSAC) and will return to the court Dec. 28 when they host USciences,
