St. Petersburg, Florida - A day after falling to Tampa, the Millersville women's basketball team lost to Eckerd College 92-52 Saturday. Millersville had three players register double digits in points, but could not keep pace with the offense of the Tritons who featured three players with 15 or more points.
Kacie Juday led the way with 19 points for the Tritons while Anna Deegan recorded 18 and Victoria Vine registered 15 in the Eckerd victory. The Tritons outscored the Marauders by ten points in each of the first two quarters before extending their lead in the second half.
Eckerd wasted little time establishing control, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. After the Marauders made the score 8-5, Ada Yaclin nailed a three pointer to give the Tritons a six point lead. Millersville would cut the deficit to five points before Eckerd went on an 8-3 run to take a 21-11 lead into the second quarter.
The two sides traded buckets to start the second, but when Millersville got within six points, Eckerd scored nine unanswered to take a commanding 32-17 lead. Despite the best efforts of Millersville, Eckerd would take a 42-22 lead into halftime.
The Tritons kept their foot on the gas pedal in the third quarter, ending the quarter with a 63-32 advantage. The closest Millersville would get would be 25 when the Marauders opened up the fourth with a 6-0 run. Brooke Juday would hit back-to-back buckets to stop the momentum of Millersville and would coast to the 40 point victory,
The loss to Eckerd brings Millersville's record to 2-4 overall as they return to PSAC play, traveling to Seton Hill December 3rd to face the Griffins.
