Lincoln, Pennsylvania - Aunjel Van Brakle scored 19 points and registered 12 rebounds as the Millersville women's basketball team topped Virginia State 75-62 Saturday. It was a three-headed attack for the Marauders as
Alayah Hall and
Celeste Robinson both recorded 19 points in the Millersville victory.

Van Brakle took no time heating up, scoring the first bucket before
Alayah Hall hit back-to-back shots as the Marauders would jump out to a 12-4 lead. After the Trojans cut the deficit to five, Van Brakle scored a big bucket that would establish control of the game, and
Janelle Robinson capped off the quarter with a jumper that made the score 21-16 Millersville.
Virginia State came charging back in the second quarter, getting to within one point of Millersville with four minutes to play. But the Marauders responded, going on a 9-0 run to end the half and take a 40-30 lead into the locker room.
The Trojans registered a pair of buckets to start the third quarter, but Robinson put in a layup that kept Virginia State at bay. With the score 46-41 Millersville, the Marauders ripped off another 9-0 run and took a commanding 55-42 lead as time winded down in the third quarter.
Hall began the fourth quarter with a layup as Millersville extended its lead to 18 points in the final period. The closest Virginia State would come was within 13 points while the Marauders iced the game down the stretch.
Millersville had more points in the paint (36-30) and points off turnovers (15-11) than the Trojans, forcing 15 errors from Virginia State. With 23 points against Lincoln and 19 versus Virginia State, Robinson is approaching Marauder history as she is within 40 points of eclipsing the 1,000 career-points mark.
With the victory, Millersville begins the season 2-0 and will get some home cooking, returning to Pucillo to host Edinboro and Mercyhurst Saturday and Sunday of next weekend.
