Vulcans edge Marauders in final relay, 104-99

Millersville, Pennsylvania - Saturday's swimming dual between Millersville and California (Pa.) came down to the 400-yard freestyle relay--the meet's final event. The Vulcans needed a Pucillo Natatorium record to out-touch the Marauders by just over one second and clinch a 104-99 victory.

The pool record in the 400 freestyle relay fell by just four-hundreths of a second. Four Marauders won individual races. Jessica Berry, who also finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, took first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:34.82. She won the race by nearly four seconds.

Emily Fusco and Ariana Crossgrove both swam PSAC Championships qualifying times in the 100-yard backstroke. Fusco's mark of 1:00.27 won the race, with Crossgrove's 1:01.06 taking second.

Rachel Malampy edged CalU's Summer McIntyre by a half-second in the 100-yard freestyle. Her time of 55.37 was a PSAC qualifying mark. Mallory Dyson led a trio of Marauders in the first through third positions in the 50-yard freestyle. Dyson's time of 25.68 qualified her for the PSAC Championships.

Millersville continues dual competition by traveling to Lock Haven on Nov. 5.
