Kohler Fieldhouse Once Again Too Much to Handle for the Marauders
1/27/2016 10:15:00 PM | Men's Basketball
East Stroudsburg, Pa. – The Millersville men's basketball team held the PSAC's top scoring offense in check early, but the East Stroudsburg Warriors rattled off a 35-8 run to conclude the first half and downed the Marauders 94-51 at Kohler Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
Millersville (2-16, 2-12) opened the scoring with a Ricky Mosley layup and built a 12-10 lead in the opening eight minutes of the game. ESU (15-3, 11-3) the PSAC's top scoring club with 90.4 points per contest was held in check by an opportunistic Marauder defense that forced several early turnovers. However, the Warriors closed the half on a 35-8 run – including the final 10 points of the half as they carried a 45-20 lead into the halftime break.
The Marauders were cold from the field in the second half shooting at a 28 percent clip (7-of-25). ESU limited the Marauders to 30.4 percent (14-of-46), 5-of-25 from three point range and forced 24 turnovers over the duration of the game.
The victory marked the ninth-straight win for the Warriors as they were led by redshirt senior guard Will Brown who finished with a team-high 12 points.
Shawn Williams scored 16 points for the Black & Gold, but tied his season-high with eight turnovers. Sophomore Jerrin Ball made his second start of the season and finished with a career-high eight points.
The Marauders travel to Kutztown on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip.
