Millersville Cruises to Seventh Victory
9/15/2015 8:47:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
Millersville, Pa. – The Milersville women's volleyball team kept up its red-hot play Tuesday night by defeating Chesnut Hill 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-11) to improve to 7-0 on the young season.
Kelsi Ceriana led Millersville with 11 kills on just two errors for an attack percentage of .474. Erin Harman's streak of double-digit kills was snapped but she contributed nine in the Marauder win. Grace Dawson continued her steady play totaling 28 assists during the three set affair.
The first set was hotly-contested early. With the score 20-16, Ceriana recorded one of her six kills of the set and was followed by Renee Drawbaugh earning a point on the serve to put Millersville ahead, 22-16. Chesnut Hill cut back into the lead scoring two in a row before the Marauders finally put away the pesky Griffins, 25-18.
The second set was dominated by Millersville as it took a commanding 12-3 lead when Brooklyn Smith served for five straight Marauder points. With the set well in hand, Dawson came on to serve for three points before the set ended on a service error by Chesnut Hill.
The third set was much like the second as Millersville never lost control. Ceriana recorded three kills while Brittany Ford and Harman each contributed a pair. Dawson added seven assists as the Marauders cruised to its second consecutive 25-11 set victory.
Brooklyn Smith recorded 18 digs on the night and is now just 85 away from the program's all-time record.
Millersville will next face Philadelphia University at home on Tuesday September 22 at 7 p.m. in Pucillo Gymnasium.
