GAME OVERVIEW• Millersville enters the series with Bloomsburg in first place in the PSAC East and the Huskies are looking to stay in the thick of the PSAC Tournament race after losing two at Lock Haven on Thursday. The Marauders have won eight in a row and nine of their last 10. Two wins on Saturday would give Millersville its best record through 30 games since the 2000 club, which started 25-5. Millersville has recorded 10-plus hits in eight of the last 10 games and has had at least one extra base hit in nine consecutive games.
•   The Marauders' .326 batting average ranks third in the PSAC, and they rank fourth in runs scored and on base percentage. Millersville is also one of only two teams with a team ERA under 4.00. The Marauders' 3.75 is second in the league as is the .239 batting average against. Millersville's .974 fielding percentage and 23 double plays turned are tops in the PSAC. The Marauders rank eighth in Division II in fielding percentage. Shortstop
Tyler Orris is leading the league in assists for the third consecutive season. His .970 fielding percentage is second among all shortstops in the league but his 134 chances are 48 more than the leader.
•   Since 2010, only 15 PSAC players have hit over .400. There are currently 17 players over .400 and Millersville has two of them:
Chas McCormick and
David Summerfield. The sophomores rank 10th and 11th respectively in the league in hitting. They also rank third and sixth in hits. McCormick has reached base in 26 consecutive games and owns a 13-game hitting streak.
•   With McCormick and Summerfield stealing the offensive headlines,
Dan Stoltzfus has quietly produced a breakout season. The junior first baseman also has a 13-game hitting streak going and has hit .435 with six doubles and 15 RBIs in the stretch. He has eight multi-RBI games and is tied for fifth in the PSAC in the category.
•  Millersville is 7-0 since
Jeremy Musser returned to the lineup in the No. 5 spot. In his last eight appearances, Musser is 13-for-26 with four doubles, a triple and two home runs.
• Â
Chris Murphy is expected to be Saturday's game one starter with
Dylan Boisclair starting game two. Murphy is 27-4 in 35 career starts includng a perfect 6-0 this season. One of those career losses, however, came against Bloomsburg in 2014. Bloomsburg tagged Murphy for six runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings. That was Murphy's shortest outing as a Marauder and the most runs he has ever allowed. Murphy ranks sixth in the PSAC among all qualifying pitchers with a 1.23 ERA. Right-handers are hitting just .200 against him while lefties are hitting .220. Opponents are also just 12-for-60 with runners on base. Murphy has also recorded 59 ground outs to 23 fly outs.
•  While
Jon Shehan is 21-7 all-time against Bloomsburg, the Huskies split the season series in 2012 and 2014. Two of the games were decided in extra innings last season. Close games are common. There have been six extra-inning games since 2009 and 14 of the last 18 games have been decided by no more than two runs.
•  With Bloomsburg starting Tyler Hill and Mike Warren on Thursday at Lock Haven, it looks like Zach Meyer will start one of the two games on Saturday. Meyer leads the team with a 2.55 ERA in 17.2 innings. He's allowed only 14 hits and three walks. He allowed four runs on seven hits against West Chester in his last outing. He threw a complete game against Lock Haven the start prior.
