Kiara Allen Becomes Millersville's First All-American Sprinter

Birmingham, Ala. – Kiara Allen finished in eighth place in the 60-meter finals on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. With her 7.58 time and finish she became Millersville's first ever women's indoor All-American sprinter.

Allen qualified for the finals with a fourth-place finish in her heat of the preliminaries on Friday afternoon with a recorded time of 7.53. The redshirt junior shaved .07 off her previous best time in the event, as she came just short of re-breaking the school record. The winning time during Saturday's finals belonged to C'Evon Jones who finished the sprint in 7.35. Jones placed fourth in the event a season ago with a time of 7.51.

Allen's redshirt junior season was one for the record books. The Harrisburg Pa., native shattered the 60-meter sprint record four times this season as well as earned an All-PSAC finish in the event on March 1. The Central Dauphin product will forever have her name entrenched in the Millersville record books for her eighth-place, All-American finish in the 60-meter dash.
