Complete Game Notes (.PDF)GAME OVERVIEW• Millersville hits the road to the PSAC West for a back-to-back against nationally-ranked and unbeaten Gannon and winless Clarion. The Marauders look to bounce back from just the fourth loss in 68 all-time games against Mansfield. Already 0-1 on the road this season, Millersville went 4-9 on the road in 2014-15 and 7-5 in 2013-14. The Marauders are 3-3 in PSAC West road games over the last two seasons. Historically, the Marauders have a history of success in the West, including wins over nationally-ranked opponents in 2012, 2010 and 2008. Millersville lost three games against nationally-ranked foes last year but went 7-4 against nationally-ranked teams from 2009-2013.
• Millersville has won four in a row over Clarion and six of the last seven match-ups dating back to 2000. The teams first met in 1985 with Millersville winning 78-49. The teams met four times in the PSAC Tournament from 1987-1995 with the teams splitting, 2-2. Last season at Millersville, the Marauders won 79-54 behind a career-high 15 points from
Courtney Hinnant. Millersville has won the last four match-ups by an average of 21.5 points per game.
• Gannon holds a 6-3 lead in the all-time series that dates to 1981. Millersville won two of the matchups in 1983 and 1993, but since Gannon joined the PSAC in 2009-10, the Golden Knights have won five of six, but all the games have been close. The first came in the 2010 NCAA Atlantic Regional final. Each of the four losses since have been by 10 points or fewer. The 2012 game went into overtime (78-76) and the 2013 PSAC Semifinal game ended in a 63-62 score on a buzzer beater by Gannon's Nettie Blake. Last season, Millersville won 57-31 while Gannon shot just 9-of-57 from the field and 2-of-19 from 3-point range.
• Millersville ranked 18th—last—in the PSAC in free throw shooting in 2014-15 and 16th in 2013-14. The free throw shooting woes appeared again in the loss to Mansfield as the Marauders hit just 10-of-25 attempts. Hinnant and Cooper attempted 20 of the team's 25 foul shots and combined for six makes. The rest of the team only got to the line five times and went 4-for-5. Through two games, the Marauders' .511 percentage is lower than its PSAC-worst percentage in 2014-15, and the Marauders rank 17th in percentage.
• Millersville has ranked in the PSAC's top-five in field goal percentage defense each season since 2004-05. But against Mansfield, the Marauders allowed 48.1 percent shooting from the field and 45.5 percent shooting from three. Only nine opponents over the last five seasons have shot a higher percentage in a game against Millersville.
•
Shelby Reimer has hit three 3-pointers in each of the first two games, and she ranks eighth in the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage at a .353 clip. The Marauders have made only 10 threes as a team through two games and Reimer has six of the makes. She has made 101 career threes with a 35.9 percent career conversion mark. Her 101 makes ranks her 11th all-time at Millersville and her career percentage ranks second behind only career leading scorer Sara Burcin.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT• Gannon is one of the favorites to win the PSAC West this season, starting 3-0 to build upon last season's 21-8 record and NCAA Tournament appearance. Gannon has scored between 73 and 76 points in each of the first three games and has won all three by double figures. Gannon was picked No. 2 in the PSAC West Preseason Poll and has since climbed to No. 18 in Division II and No. 2 in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region Media Poll. Following the opening week of the season, Jennie Thies won PSAC East Player of the Week for back-to-back double-doubles, and Elissa Ellerbrock was named PSAC West Freshman of the Week.
• Clarion enters the weekend in search of its first win and hosts Cheyney on Saturday before the Marauders visit on Sunday. Head coach Jana Ashley is in her second season, posting a 2-25 overall record and 1-21 PSAC mark in 2014-15. So far this season, Clarion has been outscored 77.0-64.3 per game. The team is shooting 34.3 percent from the field while allowing opponents to hit 44.9 percent. The team ranks 17th in the 18-team league in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense.
