Women's Basketball Lends Helping Hand to Community

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville University women's basketball has been busy in the offseason, not only with classes and training but with volunteering in the community. The Marauders recently took part in the University's Day of Caring and also worked the Buchanan Elementary School Back to School Fair.
The women's basketball team has become a fixture at the Buchanan Back to School Fair. The fair is held annually at Hamilton Park in Lancaster, celebrating the students' return to school. Marauders assisted with games, food and logistics, helping the event created by the Buchanan Elemntary School Parent Teacher Organization run smoothly.
The team also took part in the 2015 Millersville University Day of Caring, which was held on Sept. 7 in conjuction with United Way of Lancaster County's Day of Caring. Millersville University students comprise almost one-third of the more than 2,000 volunteers taking part in the day. The team worked a fundraiser walk at Manheim Township Park, taking charge of parking and handing out water to participants.
The basketball season begins on Nov. 15 when Millersville hosts W.Va. Wesleyan on the newly-renovated Pucillo Gymnasium hardwood.
