Complete Game Notes (.PDF)GAME OVERVIEW• The Millersville women's basketball team (10-7, 7-5 PSAC) enters the first Shippensburg meeting of the season a three-game skid and has a record of just 3-5 away from Pucillo in 2014-15. This is just the Black and Gold's fourth losing streak of at least three games in the past eight season. Coming up is arguably the Marauders' toughest stretch of the season with the next three opponents being the beasts of the East in Shippensburg, Bloomsburg and West Chester. The combined winning percentage of those three teams is .739 (34-12) overall and .727 (24-9) in PSAC play. Two of those three contests will also take place on the road. Millersville has lost two straight on the road against the likes of Edinboro (58-65) and Pitt-Johnstown (72-74) when
Carly Gallagher suffered her season-ending injury in the second half.
• The all-time series between these two teams has been neck-and-neck throughout its history. The Marauders lead it by one game (45-44) but have taken the last three matchups and 10 of the last 13. In that 13 game stretch, Millersville is outscoring Shippensburg by an average of nearly 11 points per game. Four times in that span, the Marauders held the Raiders below 50 points nine times, Shippensburg was held to 60 points or fewer.
• Defense hasn't been the issue this season as the Black and Gold have held 12 opponents below 70 points. However, Millersville is averaging only 62.9 points per contest, which is good for 13th in the PSAC. On the other side, Ship's 72.7 scoring average is fifth in the conference. The Raiders are 7-2 when scoring at least 70 points this season and 5-1 when putting up at least 80 on their opponent.
• The Raiders' leading scorer Stephanie Knauer joined the program's 1,000-point club on Jan. 7 when the team defeated Clarion 65-40. Knauer was an All-PSAC East Second Teamer as a freshman in 2012-13 and an All-PSAC East First Teamer just last season at the conclusion of her sophomore campaign. Her 14.2 points per contest so far this season are good for 10th in the PSAC. She has scored 20 points or more four times this season including a career-high 31 points on Dec. 17 against Slippery Rock when she was 11-of-17 from the field as well as 8-for-10 at the free throw line.
• Morgan Griffith is in just her sophomore season with Shippensburg and is averaging a double double (11.5 points, 10.3 rebounds). This season, she has earned six double doubles, two 20-point performances and four showings of at least 14 boards.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT• Kristy Trn is in her 16th season at the helm of Shippensburg and the three-time PSAC Divisonal Coach of the Year had a career record of 258-167 entering the 2014-15 campaign. When you include her five years as the team's primary assistant, one year as a volunteer assistant and four years as a student-athlete, this season is her 26th with the Raiders. Coming into the game against Millersville, Shippensburg has won three straight games and four of its last five. However, at home, the Raiders have won just two of their last five. Statistically, the Raiders have been led by a trio of scorers averaging double figures in Stephanie Knauer (14.2), Morgan Griffith (11.5) and Lauren Gold (11.0). Griffith is also averaging a double double as she is first on the team in rebounds at 10.3 per game.
