Box Score West Lawn, Pa. - The 2014 Millersville baseball season was an adventure replete with walk-off victories and record-setting moments. The journey, however, came to an end Sunday in the NCAA Atlantic Regional championship round with a 3-0 loss to Seton Hill.

A team that reached both the PSAC Championship game and NCAA Atlantic Regional final with four wins in its final at bat ran out of magic on Sunday. The PSAC Eastern Division champion and Atlantic Region No. 1 seeded Marauders were held in check by Brett Sullivan, who allowed eight hits over nine innings. Millersville bounced into rally-killing double plays in the first, sixth and seventh innings.

A terrific scoring opportunity also went by the wayside in the second when after singles from
Dan Johnson and
Kurt Seiders and a sacrifice bunt from
David Summerfield, a squeeze bunt from
Mark Stuckey resulted in Sullivan cutting down Johnson at home for the first out. Millersville filled the bases when
David Pine was plunked, but Sullivan got
Chas McCormick to ground out for the third out.

Millersville's serious scoring opportunities were few the rest of the way.
Chas McCormick started the eighth with a double, and
Dan Stoltzfus repeated the feat in the ninth, but neither time the Marauders could score. Sunday's performance was a microcosm of the postseason for Millersville in which it averaged nearly 10 hits per game but scored just 2.9 runs per game over an eight-game run.

Sullivan retired 10 consecutive Marauders from the second to the fifth inning. Seton Hill was limited to only five hits, and
Tad Barton (6-4), working on just two days rest, provided a quality start, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks, two hit batsmen while striking out seven.

Seton Hill struck first in the top of the second inning using the same formula that frustrated the Marauders on Saturday afternoon.  The leadoff hitter singled and swiped second. Two singles sandwiched around a well-executed pick-off play by Barton, brought the first run home.

The Griffins cashed in on free passes in the fifth, drawing two walks and a hit by pitch to load the bases. A sacrifice fly from Anthony Fanelli brought home Brandon Jossey. The lead pushed to three when Cody Herald scored on a squeeze bunt off the bat of Matt Malacane.

Adam Zipko tied a bow on a spectacular 2014 postseason and career with a four-pitch, 1-2-3 inning in the ninth. Zipko finished the postseason with six appearances, a 4-0 record, two saves  and no runs allowed in 15.1 innings. He leaves Millersville as the all-time leader in appearances with 80. He also ranks second in saves with 20.

Seton Hill ended Millersville's postseason run in the NCAA regional for a second consecutive season. Both of Millersville's losses in the 2014 tournament came to the Griffins, who advance to the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history and after four consecutive appearances in the regional.

Sunday marked the final game in the careers of five Marauders that helped comprise the winningest senior class in school history.
Tad Barton,
Dan Johnson,
Zach Stone,
Mark Stuckey and
Adam Zipko led the team to a 149-69-1 record and was the first to win three PSAC East Championships, qualify for four PSAC Tournaments and appear in three NCAA Atlantic Regionals. Barton graduates as the career leader in pitching victories with 25, and Stone set Marauder marks for hits (267) and RBIs (158). Student assistant coaches David Baker and Ryan Murray also coached in their final game.

Four Marauders earned a spot on the all-tournament team:

Kurt Seiders (RF) and
Adam Zipko (RP).
