Box Score 2 Thomasville, N.C. – Millersville was outhit 24-to-10 by Franklin Pierce on Sunday and lost both contests by scores of 9-3 and 8-3.
The Marauders (7-5) had leads in both games but their seven errors in game one came back to bite and in the second contest, the Ravens (7-2) scored seven of their eight runs in innings five through eight en route to the win.
GAME ONE RECAP

Franklin Pierce struck first in the bottom of the second with an RBI groundout but
Zach Stone tied things up at 1-1 in the third with a sacrifice fly to right that brought in
Chas McCormick. In the bottom of that inning, the Ravens answered with a sacrifice fly of their own and were back up 2-1.

McCormick stepped up to the plate in the fourth and pushed across both
Tyler Orris and
Dan Stoltzfus with a two-run single that gave Millersville its first lead, 3-2. However, the Marauders wouldn't score again the rest of the game and dropped game three of the series.

Tad Barton (1-1) took the loss after going just three innings and gave up six runs, three earned, on five hits while striking out one batter and walking none. The bullpen gave up three runs the rest of the way but none were earned and included support from
Matt Binder (2.0 IP),
Cody Stoneback (2.0 IP) and
Josh Mellon (1.0).

At the plate,
Chas McCormick led the way with two hits in four at-bats and was the only Marauder to record more than one base knock. The freshman leadoff hitter also had one run and two RBIs.

GAME TWO RECAP

In the second game, Franklin Pierce scored first again when Matt Walsh reached on an single to shortstop that scored Calvin Graves. The Black and Gold came back and took the lead though.

The Marauders scored one in the third on an RBI groundout from
Kurt Seiders that brought in
David Pine and one in the fifth thanks to an RBI single from Orris that scored McCormick. With Millersville leading 2-1, the Ravens' John Razzino hit a two-run homerun to give Franklin Pierce a 3-2 advantage.
The Marauders weren't done though and tied the game back up at 3-3 when
Dan Johnson scored on a wild pitch. However, Millersville was held scoreless over the final 3.2 innings while the Ravens tacked on six runs to take the game and the series, three games to one.

Jim McDade (ND) took the ball and tossed 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs on five hits. McDade didn't record a strikeout but walked a batter. In relief,
Sean Stephenson (0-1) was saddled with the loss after throwing an inning and two-thirds with two runs, both earned, on three hits while walking one batter.
Adam Zipko then gave up three earned in an inning of relief and
John Brogan didn't surrender any runs in one inning pitched.
