Complete Game Notes (.PDF)GAME OVERVIEW• Alex Stam was the hero on Dec. 20 when she drained back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minute and a half to give the Millersville women's basketball team the lead for good over Mercyhurst as it held on to beat the Lakers by a score of 61-59 inside Pucillo Gymnasium. Prior to this season, the 5-9 guard had never scored double figures in a game in her career but 2014-15 has been a different story. She has scored 11 points twice this month and with 56 points on the year, she is already one point shy of her total from her career-high of 57 points all of last season.
• Gallagher who was recognized before the Mercyhurst game for scoring her 1,000th-career point, led the way with a game-high 17 points to go with three rebounds, one block and one steal. She has scored at least 10 points in 13 straight games dating back to the end of last season and has led the team in scoring for eight of the 11 games this season. Hinnant was the third Marauder in double figures and earned her first-career double double with 10 points and 13 boards as well as five assists and two blocks, all of which are personal bests for the Spring-Ford High School product.
 • Millersville leads the all-time series with Goldey-Beacom 4-0 and three of those four meetings have taken place in Pucillo. With that being said, these two teams haven't met since 2009 and the Marauders have taken all four of the matchups by at least 10 points.
• Millersville has been much better this season as opposed to 2013-14 in close games as it is 4-0 in contests decided by five points or less. In 2013-14, the Marauders were just 1-5 in games in that situation. With that being said, Millersville hasn't played an overtime game in over two years and that came in a 76-78 loss to No. 8 Gannon on Dec. 18, 2012.Â
• Goldey-Beacom's Chukwueze has scored in double figures in nine of the Lightning's 13 games this season and has reached 20 points twice including a season-high 32 on Dec. 17 at Chestnut Hill. In that game, the senior guard was 13-of-18 (72.2 percent) from the field including 3-for-4 from behind the arc as well as 3-of-6 at the free throw line. She also tallied seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and didn't turn the ball over a single time in 38 minutes of action. Chukwueze has recorded two double doubles on the season and those came against Georgian Court (Dec. 3) and USciences (Dec. 9). During the month of December, she is averaging 15.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT• Since opening the season with a mark of 0-6, Goldey-Beacom has won four of its last seven but is coming off a 10-point CACC defeat to Philadelphia at home on Dec. 21. This matchup with Millersville marks both teams' final non-conference matchup of the 2014-15 season and Goldey-Beacom is just 1-7 against opponents outside of the CACC this season. The Marauders have a record of 2-2 against non-PSAC opponents in 2014-15. Bethann Burke's first season with the Lightning was a rousing success. The squad advanced to the ECAC final with victories over Merrimack and CACC-rival Caldwell to close with a 15-15 record and saw two players picked for all-league honors. Goldey-Beacom found its stride toward the end of season, closing with victories in five of its last seven outings. This year, the Lightning have been led by three scorers averaging double figures including Lillian Chukwueze (14.8), Lexi Bruno (13.3) and Britani Bryson (11.0). Chukwueze is also the team's top rebounder with 7.7 boards per contest while Bryson is right behind her (7.0) and Bruno is third on the squad in that department with a rebounding average of 4.7 per game.
