Complete Game Notes (.PDF)GAME OVERVIEW• Millersville returns to PSAC East competition looking for its first league win of the season. Millersville has not started 0-3 against the PSAC East since 2008-09 and has started 0-3 just twice since 1983. After setting the school record for 3-pointers in 2013-14, Millersville has made at least eight in five of the first seven games and in four in a row. The Marauders are shooting 37.6 percent from deep over the last four games. They rank fifth in the league in 3-pointers made per game. On the defensive end, Millersville ranks sixth out of 18 teams in 3-pointer defense, holding opponents to 28.8 percent.
• Millersville has spread the wealth with its scoring this season. Four different players have led the team in scoring through seven games. At least three players have scored in double figures in six of the seven games, and four players have placed in double figures three times. Five Marauders are averaging 9.0 points per game or better.
Kelvin Parker has scored in double figures in 18 of his 19 career games and in 17 consecutive. That is the longest streak by a Marauder since
Charlie Parker scored in double figures in 35 consecutive appearances from Jan. 3, 2006-Jan. 17, 2007.
•
Tyree Smith has been on a tear over his last three games, averaging 17.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 17-of-19 from the free throw line. It is the best three-game scoring and rebounding average of his career as his previous bests were 17.3 points from Jan. 29-Feb. 8 of last season and 6.0 rebounds in his first three games of last season. Smith has strung together three consecutive games of double figure scoring five times with his longest streak of five games coming from Jan. 22-Feb. 8 of 2014.
•
Kelvin Parker totaled a season-high four steals against Bowie State Monday, which pushed him to 14th in the PSAC in steals per game (2.0). Millersville is the only team in the PSAC with three players ranked in the top 15 in steals.
Shawn Williams ranks fourth (2.3) and
Eddie Callender ranks 12th (2.1).
Sam Light is also averaging better than a steal per game. As a team, Millersville ranks fourth in the league with an average of nine steals per game. Parker has recorded at least one steal in all 19 games of his Millersville career. Williams and Callender have had a steal in four consecutive games. Â
• Millersville and Mansfield have split the last four meetings and each of those four games have been decided by no more than seven points. Since 2007-08, 10 of the meetings have been decided by fewer than 10 points. Mansfield, however, has won 10 of the last 12. From 2008-09 to 2011-12, Mansfield won eight in a row. Millersville has won each of the last two games played in Pucillo Gymnasium.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT• Charles Pemerton is the reigning PSAC East Player of the Week after averaging 21.0 points and 9.5 rebounds while hitting 68 percent of his shots from the field. He totaled 27 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Franklin Pierce. Senior Joe Bell has plagued the Marauders over his first three years. The former PSAC East Freshman of the Year and three-time All-PSAC East selection surpassed 1,500 career points earlier this season and ranks fifth in career scoring at Mansfield. Pemberton and Bell are averaging 17 points per game, giving Mansfield the highest scoring duo in the PSAC. Both rank in the top five in scoring average.
