
Millersville Tied for Second in PSAC in Academic Success Rate; Three Teams Post Perfect Scores

Millersville, Pa. – Millersville University's 84 percent Academic Success Rate (ASR) tied with Lock Haven for second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and trailed only Mercyhurst's 89 percent. This is according to data released earlier this month by the NCAA. Millersville's men's tennis, women's tennis and volleyball teams were three of 25 PSAC teams that achieved a 100 percent Academic Success Rate using the 2003-06 freshman classes.
The national average for Division II athletes is 71 percent. Millersville ranked significantly higher than that athe PSAC was one of 12 Division II conferences above the national standard.
The PSAC average was 78 percent, ranking it fifth among 24 Division II conferences. With the highest enrollment, the PSAC produced the most graduates (5,964 of 7,630). Among the larger leagues, the PSAC is third in ASR trailing only the Northeast 10 and Great Lakes Valley Conferences.
ASR is calculated by measuring degree completion among freshman classes over a four-year period. This includes transfers ionto an institution but removes students who left the institution while academically eligible to compete. The most recent study focuses on those entering college from 2003-2006.
