Box Score Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's basketball team drilled 15 3-pointers and scored an important PSAC Eastern Division victory over Bloomsburg Wednesday evening, 88-77.
The Marauders (9-9, 5-4 PSAC East) got even in more ways that one. The 11-point triumph avenged a road defeat to the Huskies (10-8, 6-3 PSAC East) earlier this season, but more importantly, it pulled their overall record to .500 for the first time this season and drew them within one game of second place in the PSAC East. Millersville has now won seven of its last 10 and four of its last five.
Kelvin Parker poured in 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting and hit 4-of-7 from three, giving him three 20-point performances in six games as a Marauder.
Tyree Smith hit 4-of-5 from three for 13 points.
Jalen Lester added 12 points, including 6-of-6 from the free throw line, and
Carl Wallace added 11 points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Marauders shot over 44 percent from the field and scored 88 points for the second consecutive game.
With just over seven minutes remaining in the first half,
Jalen Lester, Parker and Smith hit three pointers on three consecutive possessions to turn a 24-24 tie into a nine point Marauder lead. Millersville remained in complete control for the remainder of the game.
Kyle Richardson hit a triple 23 seconds into the second half. Parker and Coleman added two more to push the advantage to 14. The closest Bloomsburg came the rest of the way was seven, but Millersville led by as many as 16.
The game slogged through 55 personal fouls and 83 combined free throw attempts. Bloomsburg made 33-of-47 and Millersville made 25-of-36.
The Marauders, now 8-1 inside Pucillo Gymnasium, have been nearly unbeatable at home with its only loss coming to unbeaten and nationally-ranked East Stroudsburg on Dec. 7. The Marauders have held leads of at least 16 points in each of the last five home games.
Millersville's 15 threes were the second-most this season and two short of the school record, which it tied on Jan. 4. The Marauders have made at least 11 threes in nine games and have shot over 40 percent from three in six of the last eight games.
Millersville takes a break this weekend and returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in a crucial PSAC East game at West Chester.
