Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team honored its three seniors against East Stroudsburg on Saturday and defeated the Warriors 107-98 in Pucillo Natatorium.
The Marauders finished in first place in seven of the meet's 11 events and had two first place finishes from senior swimmers. Seniors
Amanda Thomas and Becca Anderson helped the 4x100-meter relay team cruise to a first place result with a time of 3:41.97, defeating the Warriors best time by more than six seconds. Thomas also won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:18.27.
Anderson also competed in the 200-freestyle and placed third with a time of 2:03.39.
Rachel Malampy won the event for Millersville by touching the wall in 2:00.61 and collected nine points for the home team. The other senior to be recognized on the day was Adrianna Rodriguez who took fourth in the event with a time of 2:05.98. Rodriguez also placed fourth in the 100-butterfly and fifth in the 100-breaststroke.
Sophomore
Grace Magerr won both the 500-freestyle and the 1,000-freestyle in PSAC qualifying times. Magerr finished the 1,000-meter race in 10:54.34 and was nearly nine seconds faster than the closest competitor. Freshman
Rachel Stump placed third in the 1,000-free with a result of 11:13.45.
In the 50-yard freestyle
Brigid Kavanaugh swam to another Marauder first place finish. The sophomore finished the event in 25.35 and led a total of three Marauders who finished inside the top-six. Kavanaugh couldn't be stopped and swam to the top spot later in the meet in the 100-backstroke with a result of 1:03.51.
Millersville now has two more meets before competing in the PSAC Championships on February 21-23. The Marauders travel to Kutztown next week to compete against the Golden Bears on Saturday, January 24.
