Erie, Pa. - Freshman Aram Moffitt continued his impressive rookie season, but the Millersville wrestling team dropped a pair of duals to nationally ranked Gannon and Mercyhurst Friday evening. 

Both duals were contested at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. No. 20 Gannon (3-1, 1-0 PSAC) toppled the Marauders (2-2, 2-2 PSAC), 44-7. No. 11 Mercyhurst (7-1, 2-0 PSAC)  handed the Marauders a 47-3 defeat. Moffitt, wrestling at 197 pounds, was the lone Marauder to win both matches on the evening. 

Against Gannon, David Charles put the Marauders on the board with a decision at 141 pounds. His 10th win of the season came by a close 5-4 score over Johnny Marotto. Moffitt won his second consecutive match by major decision, blanking Gunner Loughman, 9-0. 

Moffitt ran his record to 13-9 on the season and won for the fifth time in his last six bouts by edging Mercyhurst's Brian Beattie, 4-2. Mercyhurst took the other nine matches, including four by fall. 

Millersville returns home to host seven other teams on the Jan. 18 Mid-Penn Duals. The following day, Millersville hosts the annual "Shorty" Hitchcock Memorial Classic. Both events take place at the Student Memorial Center on campus.
