No. 20 West Chester Downs Marauders

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - West Chester certainly proved its worth as the No. 20-ranked team in Division II Saturday evening at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. The Golden Rams rushed for 456 yards and smothered the Millersville offense into a 48-3 final score.

Millersville was limited just seven yards rushing and 121 yards of total offense in a heavy, steady rain. Ian Sadon, who rushed for 106 yards a week ago against Mercyhurst, was held to 20 yards on eight carries. Connor Casey completed 10-of-27 passes for 114 yards. Brent Collins led the receivers with 51 yards on two catches, including a career-long 42-yarder.

West Chester, which entered the game averaging 50.5 points per game and 563.5 yards per game continued its impressive roll through the early part of the season.

Led by Rondell White's 227 yards and three touchdowns, the Golden Rams piled up 624 yards of offense. Quarterback Sean McCartney was efficient, completing 9-of-13 passes for 168 yards and two scores. Brandon Monk rushed for 175 yards on 15 carries and scored twice. His fourth quarter score was a 93-yard scamper--the third-longest in West Chester history and the 12th longest in PSAC history.

Millersville struggled to get its offense untracked early. Twelve of its 15 drives last four plays or fewer. The Marauders started with two three-and-outs, but trailed just 6-0 when Brandon Monk was stripped by P.J. Santos on a punt return. Brian Kelly recovered the ball at the Millersville 47. The Marauders, however could not pick up a first down. Casey was pressure on fourth-and-two, and Trenton Petrovich slipped to the wet turf as the ball fell incomplete.

West Chester cashed in on the good field position when McCartney hooked up with Adam Dempsey from 16 yards out. The ensuing kickoff was drilled off of a Millersville up-man and bounced directly back to kicker Shawn Leo. West Chester made good on the recovery by completing a 10-play, 55-yard drive to extend its first quarter lead to 20-0.

The Marauders' score came in the second quarter when Garrett Mayhart drilled a 22-yard field goal with 1:30 left before halftime. West Chester took a 34-3 lead into the half and added rushing touchdowns from White and Monk in the second.

Millersville's defense was led by Rasheed Johnson and Dean May, which both set career highs in tackles with 13 and 12 respectively. Kelly recovered two fumbles and Matt Brinser also recovered one. Santos forced a pair and Jody Dodds forced the third.

Punter Evan Stahl produced a career day as well, averaging 46.2 yards per kick with a career-long of 69, three better than 50 yards and three inside the 20.
