
Naughton Leads Marauders to Second Place Finish at Mason-Dixon Invitational

Results
Gettysburg, Pa. - Freshman Kayla Naughton finished in first place in the 100 and 200-meter dashes and led the Millersville women's track and field team to a second-place team finish at the Mason-Dixon Invitational Saturday.
Naughton was one of four Marauders to finish with a first place result. The freshman ran the 100-meter dash in 13.17 and the 200-meter dash in 26.90. Erin Madison (27.42) and Megan Meyer (27.62) finished second and fourth, respectively.
Madison took home the best performance of the day in the 100-meter hurdles. The freshman crossed the finish line at 15.55 with a PSAC qualifying time.
In the discuss throw Vanessa Hower placed first with a throw of 35.64 meters and recorded her best throw of the season in the process.
The fourth Marauder to place first on the day was sophomore Ann Kovacs. Kovacs placed first in the hammer throw with a toss of 45.89 meters. The Marauders grabbed the top four results in the event with Kelli Farris placing second (45.28), Vanessa Hower third (42.64), and Nicole Sokira finishing fourth (41.59). All four distances were PSAC qualifying times.
The foursome of Naughton, Madison, Kiara Allen, and Erin Mason finished first in the 4x100-meter relay. The team ran the event more than two seconds faster than the second-place team with a time of 50.04.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase Elizabeth Reese ran a PSAC qualifying time with her finish of 12:24.19.
The Marauders finished the meet with 117 points and a second place finish. Gettysburg won the meet with 120 points.
Millersville performs in the Penn Relays next Thursday and Friday, April 25-26 in Philadelphia, Pa.
