Warriors Shut Down Marauders

Box Score East Stroudsburg, Pa. - The Millersville football team rushed for more than 100 yards for the fourth straight game but lost to East Stroudsburg 66-7 on Saturday afternoon.

Millersville (1-9, 1-6 PSAC East) dropped its third straight game in the road loss to East Stroudsburg (7-3). Ian Sadon led Millersville with 96 rushing yards and is just 125 yards away from eclipsing the 1,000 yard mark for the first time in his career. Freshman quarterback Corey Unger went 6-for-24 with 68 yards passing and two interceptions. Running back David Coates threw the first pass of his career in the third quarter and connected with Kevin Porter on a 12-yard score for the only touchdown on the day for Millersville.

The Warriors scored 27 points in both the first and second quarters to take a 54-0 lead at halftime. After East Stroudsburg scored a touchdown mid-way through the third quarter, Millersville finally got on the board as time expired in the third quarter on the Coates pass to Porter. The Warriors were held to just one touchdown in the final quarter to finish off the 66-7 defeat.

Warrior quarterback Matt Soltes went 13-for-22 for 197 yards and six touchdowns in the game. Soltes led a Warrior offense that picked up 462 yards of offense. The Marauders accumulated 109 yards on the ground, but only 80 through the air to finish with 189 yards of total offense.

Millersville was plagued by turnovers on Saturday afternoon. Two interceptions and two lost fumbles halted drives in each of the first three quarters. Another drive was stopped on downs at the East Stroudsburg six yard line late in the fourth quarter.

The Marauders return home for the final game of the 2013 season. Millersville will take on California (Pa.) next Saturday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. on Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium.
