Millersville, Pa. - Millersville football closes its 2013 season Saturday with a number of fan promotions including Military Appreciation Day, Papa John's Pizza sale and a 1993 team reunion.
The Marauders honor the United States Military with Military Appreciation Day at the game against California (Pa.). All veterans and active duty military personnel with proper identification receive free admission. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will sell camo t-shirts with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Wounded Warrior Project was founded in 2003, and its purpose is to raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured service members aid and assist each other and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.
Fans also have a special treat Saturday with Papa John's pizza available at the concession stand. Slices can be purchased for $2 with part of the proceeds benefiting Millersville athletics.
The 1993 PSAC East Championship team returns to campus for a special celebration commemorating the team's achievements. The 1993 club, coached by the late Dr. Gene A. Carpenter, won the PSAC Eastern Division with a 6-0 record and posted an 8-2 overall mark.
That celebration includes a tailgate party for the team outside the stadium at 2 p.m. and recognition of the team during the game and at halftime. The event is free for team members and their guests.Â
Saturday's game kicks off at 4 p.m. General admission tickets are $6. Senior citizen tickets are $4 and children under six get in free. Millersville students and faculty and staff receive free admission with a valid ID.Â
