Box Score Shippensburg, Pa. - The No. 23-ranked Millersville men's soccer team won its third straight game on Wednesday night, defeating the Shippensburg Raiders 1-0 and moving to 3-0 in PSAC play.
Millersville (6-2-1, 3-0 PSAC) outshot the Raiders 19-7 and took five more corners. Sophomore
Jaime Vazquez scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 58th minute, and the Marauder defense held the Raiders to only one shot on goal throughout the entire match.
Brad Benzing made one save in goal for his third shutout of the season.
Shippensburg (4-3-1, 1-2 PSAC) managed only two corners and seven shots but were able to keep the Marauder attack at bay for the first half. Robert Furfaro led the Raiders with two shots and goalkeeper Clay Sale did his best to keep Millersville from scoring, making eight saves in a losing effort.

Steve Widdowson had his team prepared for its third consecutive conference road game. The Black and Gold outshot Shippensburg 8-1 in the first 28 minutes of the game and finished the first half with a 13-2 edge in shots.
The Marauders could not break through, though, and both teams went into halftime without scoring.
The second half commenced with physical play from both squads. In the first 10 minutes of the final period both teams quickly committed two fouls. In the 55th minute Shippensburg's Josh Gannon received a yellow card.Â
Millersville used that momentum and found the back of the net moments later.
Early in the 58th minute, Vazquez collected a loose ball from the Shippensburg defense. The Tulpohocken grad made an immediate glance at the goal, saw Sale was out of position, and chipped his shot over the keeper and into the net for the game-winner.
The visitors kept the pressure on the Raiders in the final 32 minutes of action, taking six shots to Shippensburg's five in the last minutes of the game.
Millersville has now scored in a dozen consecutive games and now owns sole possesion of the series with the Raiders, 26-25-6.
The Marauders now have six days off before their next contest. They travel to East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, Oct. 8 to take on the Warriors at 7 p.m.
