
Swim Team Takes Fourth in Ohio

Geneva, Ohio - The Millersville women's swimming team finished fourth overall with 223.5 points Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Marauders swam against Indiana (Pa.), Gannon and Edinboro in the meet. IUP took home the top spot with 1,020 team points.
Senior Amanda Thomas finished in the top 10 in two events--the 100-yard freestyle and the 200 free. In the 100 free Thomas came in seventh with a time of 55.71. Her time of 2:02.68 was the tenth best time in the 200 free.
Sophomore distance swimmer Grace Magerr had the Marauders best result of the day. Magerr placed sixth in her school record event, the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:23.61. The sophomore also took home the seventh best time in the 500-yard freestyle when she touched the wall in 5:29.51.
Jaime Cessna picked up some points for the Black and Gold in the 200-yard butterfly. Cessna's time of 2:26.43 was good for the 10th position in the event.
In the 100-yard backstroke Millersville picked up nine points from Brigid Kavanaugh. The sophomore placed ninth in the event with her time of 1:06.36.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay the Marauder foursome of Kavanaugh, Thomas, Rachel Malampy, and Marina Barrineau grabbed a seventh place result with a time of 1:44.11.
Millersville travels to Juniata next Friday, Oct. 25, for a 7:30 p.m. meet.
