Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Ian Sadon and the Millersville ground game dictated play from start to finish and scores on their first three drives led the Marauders to a 30-12 road win over Cheyney Saturday.

Sadon rushed for a career-high 134 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, and David Coates added a 42-yard touchdown run as Millersville (1-6, 1-3 PSAC) piled up a season-high 181 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns. The effort was Sadon's third 100-yard game of the season and fifth of his career. Five times he has received 20 carries in a game, and all five times he has produced at least 100 yards.

The defense did its part as well, setting season highs in tackles for loss (8.0), sacks (3.0) and interceptions (2.0). The Marauders have tallied four interceptions in the last three games after not picking off a pass in the first four games. Rasheed Johnson's interception was returned for 40 yards, and Doug Henninger's first career interception set up Coates' run that gave Millersville a 28-0 lead.

The Marauders led 28-0 in the fourth quarter before Cheyney got on the board. Millersville, however, blocked the PAT, and Dean May returned the ball for two points. It was Millersville's first defensive extra point return since 1999.

Millersville had scored just one rushing touchdown in the first six games, but Sadon doubled that total in the team's first two possessions. Millersville needed only six plays to cover 60 yards in its opening possession. Sadon was involved in five of those plays, rushing four times and catching one pass. He broke a 35-yard run on the fifth play of the drive but was caught at the one. He plunged in one play later for Millersville's first opening possession touchdown drive of the season.

Following a Cheyney three-and-out, Millersville turned to Sadon again. Seven of the 11 plays went to Sadon, and he covered the final 18 yards on his own. His two-yard score put the Marauders up 14-0 with 4:18 left in the first quarter.

Millersville's ball control offense took the ball back with 1:44 left in the half and proceeded to march off 69 yards on 12 plays and eat up 7:44 of clock. The drive ended when Connor Casey found Mike Reichenbach from 20 yards away. It was Reichenbach's second career TD grab and his first of the season.

Cheyney threatened to cut into the lead late in the second quarter after recovering a fumble at the Millersville 41. Cheyney picked up a first-and-goal from the nine. Eugene Moten caught a pass to the Miillersville two, setting up a fourth-and-goal situation. Marcus Jones' rush was stuffed by Jordan Rigby a yard short of the end zone, keeping Millersville's 21-0 lead intact heading into the half.

Coates' 42-yard scampe--Millersville's longest of the season--came on the fifth play of Millersville's second third quarter drive. Cheyney capitalized on a pair of Millersville fumbles in the fourth quarter, and using short fields, Adler Thony tossed for two touchdowns.

For the second week in a row, the Millersville defense held an opponent to well below its rushing average. The Wolves were limited to 109 yards--22 below its usual. Millersville's Josh Garnett, who attended Cheyney before transferring to Millersville, registered two sacks against his former team. Joey Pham and Matt Brinser also shared a sack.

The win brings an end to a three-game road trip. The Marauders return home on Oct. 26 to host Lock Haven on Homecoming Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
