
Allen's Top Time Leads Marauders on Final Day of Bison Open

Lewisburg, Pa. - Sophomore Kiara Allen ran Millersville women's indoor track and field team's best time of the season in the 60-meter dash as the Marauders competed in the final day of competition at the Bison Open at Bucknell University.
Allen led nine Marauder finishes inside the top 10 as she finished the 60-meter dash in 8.07 seconds to top teammate Erin Mason's previous team best finish of 8.09. Mason placed ninth in the event with a time of 8.14.
Mason, who also placed seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.92, led Millersville's 4x400-meter relay team to a fifth-place finish. The sophomore, along with teammates Kayla Naughton, Erin Madison, and Megan Meyer, completed the event in 4:10.21, just seven seconds shy of the top time of 4:03.91.
Madison and Naughton also performed well in their individual events on the day. Madison placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a 9.52 time, her best of the year. While Naughton, a freshman, grabbed the sixth spot in the 800-meter run when she crossed the finish line with a time of 2:25.04.
Distance runner Sarah Mulvey and fellow runner Elizabeth Reese ran to top-10 finishes in the 3,000-meter run. Mulvey crossed the finish line at 10:46.53, good for fifth place, and Reese ended with a time of 10:54.65, good for the ninth-best time.
Sophomore Nicole Sokira wrapped up the Marauders top-10 finishes with a seventh place result in the weight throw. The Central Cambria graduate tossed the weight 13.53 meters for her best throw in the event on the year. Classmate Ann Kovacs placed 12th with a toss of 12.56 meters.
Millersville returns to action when they travel to Geneva, Ohio for the Division II Challenge on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2.
