Millersville, Pa. - Freshman Grace Magerr set the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the Millersville women's swim team swam to a 152-109 victory over the Golden Bears of Kutztown in the final home meet of the season Tuesday.

Magerr swam the 1,000 free in 10:53.29 to top the previous record of 10:55.73, set in 2008 by Kara Rapp. The Wallingford, Pa. native set the record in the second event of the meet and swam almost 15 seconds faster than her closest competitor.

Millersville (3-4) won nine of the meet's 14 events and handed the Golden Bears their first loss since November. Magerr also won the 500-yard freestyle and was joined by teammates Sarah Bernhardt and Brigid Kavanaugh who also won two events on the day for the Marauders.

Bernhardt grabbed victories in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Her finishes of 54.56 and 1:00.68, respectively, were both PSAC qualifying standards in each event. The senior also now owns the team's top four times on the season in the 100 butterfly and the top three times in the 100 freestyle.

Kavanaugh won the meet's fourth event, the 100-yard backstroke, when she touched the wall in 1:04.35. The Frederick, Md. native now holds three of the team's top five times on the season in the event.

Kavanuagh then topped teammate Bridget Dooling in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:21.03. Dooling ended in 2:26.70 and the freshman pair grabbed 13 of the teams 152 points on the day.

Junior Amanda Thomas won the 200-yard freestyle with her fastest finish in the event this season and a PSAC qualifying time of 2:00.16.

The victory ends Millersville's streak of four-straight dual meet loses after winning the first two of the season.

The Marauders travel to East Stroudsburg next to compete in their final dual meet of the season against the Warriors. The meet is set to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 26.
