Bloomsburg, Pa. – On the second day of the PSAC Championships, Millersville was finally able to take home some hardware thanks to the efforts of two Wrightsville natives.
Elicia Anderson won the women's 5,000-meter run and James McBride took third place in men's 5K event, giving both All-PSAC awards. Anderson's time of 16:53.90 was her second fastest in the event this season and gives her the second PSAC Championship of her career. She won last year's outdoor 10,000-meter run.
McBride also took home an All-PSAC nod in his second straight track season and the fourth total of his career with a time of 15:08.04, his second-best time of the season in the event. The senior also won the 5,000-meter run in February's 2011-12 PSAC Indoor Championships. Friday, he narrowly missed another All-PSAC finish, placing fourth in the 10,000-meter run.
In addition to the All-PSAC winners, the Marauders had other preliminary runners whose efforts allowed them to move to the final heats Saturday. For the women's team, the 4x100-meter relay team of Chrissy Savage, Erin Mason, Abby Schneider and Katherine Lennex made it to the finals of their event with a fifth-seeded time of 48.48 seconds. That finish was the best of the season by any quartet.
Also making it to Saturday for the women was mid-distance runner Megan Meyer, who ran a time of 2:17.20 to give her the eighth seed in tomorrow's heat. The lone men's preliminary runner who qualified for the Finals was Keith Ogden Jr. in the 400-meter hurdles. His 53.79-second finish makes him the third seed in the event.
Zach Kohler just missed an All-PSAC award, finishing fourth in the decathlon, which wrapped up Friday. The senior finished with 6,227 points in 10 events. The total was a season- and career-best. His best place in an individual event was the pole vault, where the Greenlane native tied for third, tallying a 4.05-meter best.
The final day of the PSAC Championships is tomorrow at Bloomsburg. Tomorrow's events consist of the sprint and relay finals as well as the rest of the distance events.
