Marauders Knock Off PSAC East Top Dog Bloomsburg

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Jaymes Miller's basket 49 seconds into Wednesday's PSAC East clash with Bloomsburg put Millersville on the board first, and it never relinquished the lead in knocking off the visiting Huskies, 75-68.

Bloomsburg (14-6, 10-5 PSAC) entered the game tied for first place in the PSAC East, but the Marauders (7-12, 5-10 PSAC) shot 49 percent from the field and stayed two games back of West Chester for the No. 4 seed in the PSAC Tournament. Mike Seibert hit 9-of-12 free throws and a pair of 3's for 15 points, and Demond Vance scored a season-high 15 points.

Millersville led 28-24 with 2:47 left in a hard-fought first half. Jim Kelleher provided the Marauders some instant offense off the bench with a 3-pointer that started a 12-4 run to close the half. During that stretch, Kelleher hit two 3's and Seibert hit one. Vance's free throws with 18 seconds left put Millersville in front 40-28 at the break.

The Marauders immediately ran the lead to 15 with a 3 from Seibert on the first possession of the second half. Bloomsburg, however, whittled Millersville's lead to 52-49 with 9:32 left using a 16-5 run. Elijah Obade's dunk and three-point play ended the Huskies' run, but Bloomsburg wasn't finish challenging. Dontahe Jordan, who finished with a game-high 24 points, converted a three-point play to to put Millersville's lead at 60-58 with 5:45 left, and again pulled Bloomsburg to within one at 64-63 on a 3-pointer with 3:43 to go.

On Millersville's next possession, though, Anthony Coleman followed a miss with a tip-in, and after Bloomsburg came up empty, Seibert hit two foul shots to help Millersville pull away. The Marauders made 7-of-10 foul shots in the final 2:13, and its defense held the Huskies just five points over the final 3:17.

Miller helped Millersville with 10 points and five rebounds. Obade finished with double-figure rebounds for the fourth consecutive game and added nine points.

The Marauders dealt Bloomsburg its first back-to-back losses of the season. They also limited Bloomsburg to 38.5 percent shooting, which was its lowest percentage in nine games.
