Women's Swim Team Can't Catch CalU and Gannon

California, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team dropped two meets on Saturday to California (Pa.) and Gannon. Senior Sarah Bernhardt led the Marauders with wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle.

The losses were the first of the season for Millersville (2-2). The Vulcans topped the Marauders 59-36, while the Golden Knights won 65-30. Bernhardt finished the 100 butterfly in 58.38 and the 50 freestyle in 24.99 to record the top time in both events. Both of Bernhardt's top finishes were PSAC qualify times.

Grace Magerr also notched a victory for the Marauders in the 500-yard freestyle. Magerr completed the event in 5:24.44 to finish a half-second ahead of second-place swimmer Katie Joseph from Gannon.

The only other Millersville swimmer to win an event was Janelle Laudermilch. Laudermilch took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke and qualified for PSAC's with a time of 1:09.49.

In the 400-yard IM, Arielle Walbert finished in second place with a PSAC qualifying time of 4:54.77.

In the first event of the meet, the 400-yard medley relay, the Marauders' Ashley Kichline, Brigid McDonnell, Sarah Bernhardt, and Amanda Thomas finished in third place with a time of 4:13.16.

Millersville will travel to Radford, Va. in two weeks to compete in the Highlander Invitational. The meet runs from Nov. 14-17.
