Balanced Warriors Roll Past Marauders

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Led by Matt Soltes' 372 yards of total offense, East Stroudsburg used a balanced offensive attack to roll past Millersville 62-14 Saturday at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

ESU (5-4, 4-2 PSAC) received 256 yards passing, 126 yards rushing and four total touchdowns from Soltes, who was one week removed from setting the PSAC record for total offense in a game. His brilliant play continued against Millersville (2-8, 1-7 PSAC), and he led ESU to scores on each of its first seven offensive possessions.

Millersville produced 313 yards of total offense--its third-most in a game this season. Freshman Connor Casey earned his third start of the season and completed 21-of-42 passes for 218 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Myron Myles (61) and Ian Sadon (79) combined for 140 yards on the ground. Sadon totaled his 79 on nine carries and scored his second TD of the season.

In the return game, David Coates totaled 155 yards, giving him 1,029 yards on the season and giving him a school record that was previously set in 1994 by Terrance Trogdon. Coates has averaged 26.4 yards per return.

East Stroudsburg was simply overwhelming on offense, though. scoring over 30 points for the sixth time this season. The first drive of the game traveled 64 yards on 10 plays, and then Soltes broke off the first of his two long rushes. He scrambled 54 yards for a touchdown with 7:11 remaining in the first.

Kendrick Williams added two TD runs, Thomas Tippett scored from a yard out, and Taylor Groff converted field goals from 44 and 52 yards to give ESU a 41-0 lead at the half. Millersville drove into ESU territory three times in the first half but could not put points on the board.

The Marauders' first score was set up by Andrew Wolfgang, who recovered a muffed punt return at the ESU 14. Two players later, Sadon rushed in for the score.

Soltes answered Sadon's run with a 41-yard touchdown of his own. Millersville put its final score on the board with 59 seconds left. Casey capped a 13-play, 81-yard drive with a one-yard strike to Austin Warfel. The TD grab was the first of Warfel's career.

Warfel finished the game with a career-high six catches for 62 yards. Dominic Sanders caught eight passes for 75 yards. Mike Jones hauled in a 51-yard catch and finished with six catches for 77 yards. It was the second 50-yard hook-up between Casey and Jones this season.

Millersville's Jamie Thomas finished a team-high 10 tackles in his Senior Day effort. Lou Brown totaled eight tacles and forced a fumble. T.J. Richardson picked off Soltes for his first interception of the season.

Millersville closes its season next Saturday at California (Pa.). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
