
Lesinski Powers Marauders Past Senators

Millersville, Pa. – Arriving at Pucillo Gymnasium, Davis & Elkins hadn't defeated a PSAC opponent this season in four tries. Further, the Senators hadn't won a set in those four matches, falling by a combined score of 12-0. The Marauders took care of business against the 4-17 Senators on their home floor, making sure both streaks stayed intact with a 3-0 win in Sunday afternoon's match.
Millersville dispatched of its WVIAC opponent by set scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-17, respectively, in straight sets. The home team got a magnificent performance from Katie Lesinski, who knocked down 11 kills with just two errors on 21 attempts to hit .429 while adding five digs. More importantly, Lesinski exploded for eight kills, a block and an ace in the final set to close out the Senators by herself.
While no other player had more than seven kills, the Marauder attack as a whole was strong, hitting .245 as a team with just 14 errors. Jessica Franz led the team with 23 assists and turned in a strong all-around performance, posting four aces, two kills and four digs. Katie Pisano had nine assists of her own, chipping in five digs, two kills and an ace.
Brooklyn Smith and Sue Caramanico led a Millersville defense that allowed D&E to hit just .172 by digging out 12 and 11 kill attempts, respectively. The rest of the Marauder defense was strong at the net as well. Millersville blocked nine total kill attempts, and seven players had two total blocks each.
Millersville's next match is at East Stroudsburg on Friday at 7 p.m. The Marauders are already 2-0 against the Warriors this season and have not yet lost a set. As the season winds down, the team enters a crucial stretch in its schedule, with four away matches remaining.
All four of those matches are against PSAC East opponents. With wins against ESU Friday and Cheyney on the final match of the year Nov. 10, the Marauders can claim their first PSAC Tournament appearance since 2005.
