Mansfield, Pa. – Swimming in the team's first dual meet of the season Saturday, Millersville's women's swimming team topped Mansfield in convincing fashion, dispatching of the Mountaineers, 136-55. The Marauders won all but three of the 11 events.
The 200-yard medley relay kicked off the day's action, and the Millersville foursome of Ashley Kichline, Janelle Laudermilch, Sarah Bernhardt and Jessica Del Monaco claimed the top time of 1:56.88 to give the Marauders 11 points. Following the win in the medley relay, Arielle Walbert swam to a top time of 11:29.43 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Del Monaco followed Walbert's win with a win of her own in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 2:02.07 for nine more points. The fourth event saw Bernhardt claim her own win in the 50-yard freestyle, notching a time of 23.84, which was an NCAA 'B' Cut time. Brigid Mary McDonnell swam to a top time of 2:26.66 in the fifth event, the 200-yard individual medley.
Walbert got her second win of the day in the sixth event with a 2:26.66 finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Bernhardt then grabbed her second win with a time of 55.05 in the 100-yard freestyle. To close out Millersville's wins in the meet, Brigid Kavanaugh won the 200-yard backstroke by clocking in at 2:20.32 and Del Monaco won her second race of the day with a first-place time of 5:29.23 in the 500-yard freestyle.
The Marauders dive back into the pool a week from Saturday, on Oct. 27 at Juniata. That home dual meet at Pucillo Natatorium is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
