Millersville, Pa. – Junior
Arielle Walbert, coming off a career best in the 1,000-yard freestyle race in her last meet, set the Millersville 200-yard butterfly record and took first place in the event during Saturday's dual with East Stroudsburg. The Marauders took first place in seven of the 11 events but fell 143-115.
Walbert set the record by finishing in a time of 2:17.35. The record has stood since 2009 when Brittany Neifert swam the event in a time of 2:17.58. Walbert qualified for the PSAC Championships with her time.
Junior
Sarah Bernhardt took first place in three different events including the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle races. Bernhardt took first place in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.15 seconds. Her first place times of 55.05 (100 free) and 1:58.99 (200 free) earned her PSAC qualifiers in both events.
Freshman
Ashley Kichline placed first in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events. Kichline took the 100 race in a time of 1:04.27, while finishing the 200 in a time of 2:18.14.
The Millersville 400-yard freestyle 'A' team took first place to finish out the meet. Bernhardt,
Brigid Mary McDonnell, Kichline and
Amanda Thomas finished the race six seconds ahead of the second place team in a time of 3:48.19.
The Marauders travel to East Stroudsburg for the ESU Open Saturday, Feb. 4 at 12 p.m.
