Resurgent Offense Keys Marauders in Win Over Raiders

Box Score Millersville, Pa. – After shooting a season-low 28 percent in its last outing at Kutztown, Millersville's offense shot a season-high 51 percent to cruise past Shippensburg by a score of 75-60, giving the Raiders their worse loss of the season.

Millersville (11-6, 8-5 PSAC) looked like a completely different team than it was four days ago at Kutztown. The Marauders opened the game on a 12-0 run going five-of-seven from the field. Aurielle Mosley led the charge with three-consecutive buckets.

Shippensburg (8-9, 5-8 PSAC) finally got on the board at the 16:33 mark. The Raiders missed two shots and turned the ball over four times in their scoreless streak to start the game.

The Marauders jumped out to their largest lead of 14 points, up 30-16, at the 10:00 mark when Mashira Newman hit her first three-pointer of the game. Shippensburg then went on a 17-6 run over the next six minutes to cut Millersville's lead to three, down 36-33, with 3:44 remaining.

Millersville closed out the half on an 11-2 run, going 6-for-7 in the final three minutes. The Marauders shot a season-high 59 percent in the first half to score their largest first half total, up 47-35.

Shippensburg made it interesting in the second half when it brought Millersville's lead down to just four points with 8:11 remaining in the game. Dana Wert drained a three-pointer to make it a 55-51 Marauder lead. The Raiders hit 5-of-12 behind the arc in the first half while cooling off in the second half going just two-for nine.

In less than two minutes Millersville went back up by 14 points 65-51 with a 10-0 run. The Marauders increased its lead to 17, up 71-54, with less than four minutes remaining. The Raiders hit a late bucket with 36 seconds to give Millersville a 75-60 win.

The Marauders finished the game with a season-high 51 percent from the field and are now 2-0 when shooting 50 percent or better. Millersville is now also 6-0 (4-0 PSAC) after a loss.

Mosley finished the game with a team-high 17 points that all came in the first half. Carly Gallagher had a career day going 7-of-8 from the field for 15 points.

Newman finished with her fifth-straight game in double-figures with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists. Newman now has 969 career points, leaving her just 31 points away from 1,000.

Millersville travels to Mansfield on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a 1 p.m. tip.
