Marauders Win 10th Straight Over ESU

Box Score Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's basketball team trailed East Stroudsburg for a total of 26 seconds on Wednesday evening but the Marauders cruised to their 10th-straight win over the Warriors by a score of 74-53.

ESU (6-9, 3-8 PSAC) took its only lead of the game at the 12:44 mark of the first half after scoring five quick points to take a 11-10 lead.

Millersville (10-5, 7-4 PSAC) regained the lead less than a minute later and never let it go. The game stayed within four points until the Marauders went on a 9-1 run to take a 26-17 lead with 2:13 remaining in the half. The Warriors hit a late three to cut Millersville's lead to six, 26-20, at the break.

Aurielle Mosley opened the second half with six quick points to push the Marauders' lead to 12 at 33-21. Millersville's lead increased to 46-26 with just under 14 minutes remaining and never saw its lead go below a 15-point advantage the rest of the way. The Marauders' largest lead of 24 points came at 72-48 with 1:34 remaining.

The Warriors turned the ball over 29 times, including three five-second calls at the baseline in the opening minutes of the second half. Millersville capitalized by scoring 33 of its 74 points off of turnovers. The Marauders, who held a 33-13 advantage in points off turnovers, are now 8-0 (6-0 PSAC) when scoring more points off of turnovers than their opponents.

Four of Millersville's starting five finished in double-figures. Mosley collected her 10th double-double of the season with a team-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. Mashira Newman also led the Marauders with 17 points with a season-high eight assists. Leola Pinkney added 14 points and a career-best nine steals, one shy of the school single-game record. Sophia Waters knocked down five-of-10 from the field for 12 points.

Millersville travels to Kutztown on Saturday, Jan. 21 for an important PSAC Eastern Division contest. The Marauders and Golden Bears are set to tip at 1 p.m. Fans can listen live on www.millersvilleathletics.com/msbn.
