Millersville, Pa. – Junior
Arielle Walbert swam a personal best in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while several other Marauders swam season's best times in Millersville's 121-84 loss to Lock Haven Tuesday at Pucillo Natatorium.
Walbert finished in third place in the 1,000-yard freestyle to earn her team three points to start the individual events. Walbert finished in a time of 11:14.14, less than a second out of second place. The time turned out to be her personal best since becoming a Marauder three years ago. Walbert's previous best was 11:16.52, which she swam against Elizabethtown on Dec. 9, 2010.
In the 200-yard IM, Walbert took first place in a time of 2:17.65 for a season's best in the event. Walbert finished out her individual events with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.31 for another season's best, giving her 15 points in the meet. Freshman
Ashley Kichline finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:03.80 for her one season's best.
Sophomore
Amanda Thomas collected two of her own season's best, including a team best in the 200-yard freestyle. Thomas finished the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:02.40 for a first-place finish. In the 100-yard freestyle, Thomas took second place in a time of 56.69 seconds for her best time of the season. Sophomore
Rebecca Anderson finished in third in a time of 58.00 seconds for her best time this season.
Freshman
Brigid Mary McDonnell took first place in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:11.30. McDonnell finished the 200-yard IM in second place behind Walbert in a time of 2:17.88.
Junior
Sarah Bernhardt took first place in the 100-yard butterfly and second in the 50-yard freestyle. Bernhardt's 100-yard butterfly time of 58.73 seconds and 50-yard freestyle time of 24.83 seconds are both PSAC qualifiers, and are both her second best times of the season in each event.
Bernhardt, McDonnell and Thomas each finished the meet with 17 points.
Millersville travels to Randolph-Macon this Saturday, Jan. 21 to compete against the Yellow Jackets. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m.
