
Anderson Wins, Women Control 10K on Day One at PSAC Championships

Slippery Rock, Pa. – Junior Elicia Anderson continued to add to her successful 2010-11 campaign when she won her first ever PSAC Championship competition late Thursday evening in the 10,000-meter run. The women's team collected 16 total points in the 10K to be in second place through one day at the PSAC Championships at Slippery Rock University.
Anderson won the 10K by a full 10 seconds with her time of 36:24.20. She is the first Marauder individual champion since Priscilla Jennings earned two first place finishes at the 2009 PSAC Outdoor Championships. Anderson is also the first to receive All-PSAC honors, finishing top three, since 2009.
Anderson has already earned a bid to the NCAA Championships in the 5K and 10K and is still to compete in the 1,500-meter run, which is scheduled for Saturday at 12:45 p.m.
Emily Francisco and Rebekah Moore also competed in the women's 10K placing fifth and seventh respectively. Millersville collected 16 total points in the race and now sit in second place through the first day behind Kutztown (28 points).
For the men's team Peter Hafer collected the only points for Millersville. Hafer placed fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 51.88 meters. The men are tied in sixth place with five total points after day one.
Zac Kohler sits fourth in the decathlon after five events with 3,291 total points, trailing the leader by 287 points.
