Men's Basketball Ends Season With Loss to Kutztown

Kutztown, Pa. - Millersville opened Saturday's season finale at Kutztown with a 13-2 run, but the Golden Bears battled from behind using the 3-pointer and rolled past the Marauders, 82-66.

Millersville's (10-15, 5-9) largest lead came just under four minutes in when Demond Vance hit a 3-pointer. The Marauders, who hit 16-of-34 shots in the first half, held firm control of the first half until Kutztown (16-10, 9-5) drilled five-straight 3-point attempts in under three minutes and took its first lead of the game at 32-31 with 3:24 to go.

The Golden Bears stayed hot, outscoring Millersville 11-4 over the final three minutes to take a 43-37 lead into the half. Kutztown carried the momentum into the second half and Millersville couldn't keep pace. The Golden Bears recorded 39 points to Millersville's 29 in the period. Much of the offense was sparked by Millersville's 14 second-half turnovers.

Kutztown shot 10-of-26 from 3-point range and 45.6 percent from the field. Millersville committed 23 turnovers, which led to 23 Kutztown points.

Millersville was led by Vance's 14 points, and Mike Holley's 12. Holley also handed out six assists, giving him 103 on the season--the second-most by a freshman in Millersville history. Bernard Brown, playing in his final game as a Marauder, tallied 10 points and blocked three shots. He finished his career ranked third in blocked shots.
