ABOUT THE GAME
· Due to inclement weather Millersville played back-to-back games this weekend and came away with a 2-0 mark. On Saturday the Marauders rallied in the second half to overcome visiting Kutztown 63-59. The very next day Millersville traveled to East Stroudsburg where they handed the hosts a 62-59 defeat. The Marauders are tied with Bloomsburg for the top spot in the PSAC East with a conference mark of 5-1 and an overall record of 15-3.
· Despite struggling on the offensive end at times, Millersville is a club that never backs down on defense. The Marauders have limited their opponents to just 56.6 points per game while they average 64.9. MU has also limited its opponents to a .348 shooting percentage throughout the season. Out of the 1059 collective field goals taken against Millersville, only 369 have gone in.
· The Marauders continue to dominate the conference, as well as Division II, in the blocked shots category. Millersville holds the top spot in both the Division as well as the PSAC with an impressive 6.1 blocks per game and109 overall. In terms of rebounding margin, Millersville sits third in Division II and first in the conference, and grabs down an average of 11.2 boards per game more than its opponents.
· For the second time this season sophomore forward
Aurielle Mosley was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week. Over the two-game weekend Mosley averaged 21.0 points, 17.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game. In each of the two contests Mosley had game-highs in both points (17, 25) and rebounds (17, 18). She also recorded her ninth double-double performance of the season. Mosley needs just two more blocks to set the Millersville sophomore class record for blocked shots.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
· Shippensburg is coming off of a 1-1 week in conference play. The Lady Raiders dropped a 79-61 decision to West Chester at home Thursday, but quickly rebounded and defeated East Stroudsburg on the road, 74-51 Saturday. With its record Shippensburg is tied for second with West Chester in the conference standings.
· Senior forward Kasey Gardner has taken over as Ship's leading scorer this year. On the season she has totaled 338 points and holds an incredible average of 18.8 points per game to lead the PSAC in scoring. Gardner also averages 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.
· The Lady Raiders rank first in the PSAC in the free throw percentage column. Shippensburg has knocked down 357-of-459 from the charity stripe fo a .778 shooting percentage. Sophomore Dana Wert sits third in the conference for free throw percentage with a mark of .846 (88-of-104).Millersville looks to extend its five-game win streak--all in conference play--Wednesday when the Marauders travel to Shippensburg. MU is also in search of its second PSAC East road victory. Although Millersville has won its last two bouts at Shippensburg, and have won four-straight games against the opponent dating back to the 2008-09 season, the Lady Raiders hold an overall advantage of 10-8 on their home court.
