Marauders Cruise Past Wildcats

Box Score Wilmington, Del. – The Millersville women's basketball team continued its eight-game road swing against Wilmington (Del.) Monday and cruised past the Wildcats by a score of 72-52 at Pratt Gymnasium.

The Marauders (6-2) jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first five minutes of the first half. Wilmington (1-7) struggled out of gate hitting just one shot from the field in the first nine minutes. The Wildcats only made shot in the nine minutes was a 3-pointer to bring Wilmington within one point, down 4-3. Millersville then took control and didn't look back.

Millersville pushed its lead to 27-9 with 6:25 remaining when Carrie Sheffey hit her first of two 3-point shots of the game. The Marauders pushed their lead to 20 at the break by a score of 39-19.

In the second half, Millersville continued to control the game. The Marauders took their largest lead of 26 (47-21) four minutes into the second half off a fast break layup by Sophia Waters that was created by a Leola Pinkney steal.

Wilmington made several pushes in the second half to cut the lead under 20 points, but were unable to get back in the game. Millersville went on to win 72-52.

Waters finished the game with a team-high 15 points. Aurielle Mosley scored 14 points, while collecting seven rebounds and two blocks. Mashira Newman led the Marauders with seven assists and four steals.

Millersville's scored 25 points off the bench after mustering just seven in its last outing against No. 9 Edinboro.

The Marauders are back in action on Dec. 30 when they travel to West Chester to compete in the Carol Eckman Memorial Classic. Millersville takes on University of the Science at 1 p.m. The Marauders then take on Molloy on Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.
